Game Preview: Dickerson is back!

Corey Dickerson is back in action for the Rockies. The sweet swinging lefty has missed so many games with various injuries that he has only mustered 154 plate appearances this season. We last saw him taking a hard flop while chasing a ball in St Louis over a month ago; he broke some ribs on that play, knocking him out for over a month.

Starting for the Rockies is Chris Rusin, the soft-tossing lefty who just keeps plugging along. He's coming off a complete game against the San Francisco Giants.

Opposing him is James Shields, one of many shiny trophies the Padres accumulated last offseason that has lost some of its luster. The Padres probably expected better than a 3.83 ERA, 4.27 FIP, and 1.1 fWAR from their $100 million signee. Still, he's striking out better than a batter per nine innings; what's killing him is the gopher-ball. Let's see if CarGo and Arenado can get to him.

Almost miraculously, the Rockies lineup has returned to basically full strength with the returns of Morneau and Dickerson. Hundley is apparently still out with a neck strain, and there's a Tulo-sized hole in the lineup, but it would still be nice if the Rockies scored a bunch of runs as 2015 plays out to catapult them into a more successful 2016.
