Rockies pitchers and catchers report to spring training on Feb. 19

Baseball. Soon.

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

For Denver baseball fans, only 38 days remain until one of the landmark days of the year arrives.

The Colorado Rockies according to a release from Major League Baseball will begin spring workouts on Feb. 19, when purple-clad pitchers and catchers report to Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. The rest of the squad will get started six days later.

Colorado's photo day will take place early on the morning of Feb. 29, so we'll be counting down the days until we can see the newest batch of awkward Ben Paulsen photos and other cool nuggets that always come from that media event.

Last season, the Rockies had some of the latest reporting dates in all of baseball, waiting until as many as three days after other teams got started to begin their workouts. In 2016, Colorado reports later than only three other Cactus League squads and two days earlier than several others.

Individual game tickets to Rockies spring training contests were made available this past Saturday, Jan. 9. The Rockies open up their Cactus League slate on Wednesday, March 2 at SRFATS against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
