Former Astros skipper and current special assistant to Angels GM John Coppolella, Bo Porter, has joined the list of potential candidates for the Rockies managerial position. Porter served nearly two years as manager for the Astros during the 2013 and 2014 seasons, over which the club posted a 110-190 record. Porter joins Bud Black, Brad Mills and Ron Roenicke on a list of candidates with major league managerial experience.

Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post sees a commitment to growing player payroll as a necessary step in capitalizing on the Rockies’ opening contention window.
