On The Rox podcast: Will the Rockies land an elite closer? | Denver Post

The Denver Post beat writers sit down and talk about the current Rockies news. They start with the managerial search and confirm what we already knew, Bridich isn’t letting any news out about the search. Both of the candidates that Saunders has confirmed to be interested in the job, Bud Black and Ron Roenicke, don’t seem to be fits for what the Rockies are looking for.

While I don’t think the Rockies need to land an elite closer this offseason, landing another elite bullpen arm to pair up with Adam Ottavino would help this team in multiple ways. Either the new signing or Ottavino would hopefully be freed up to handle the role that we’ve seen Andrew Miller fill successfully for the Cleveland Indians. It would also allow the Rockies to continue to develop some of the younger power arms like Carlos Estevez in a slightly less demanding role.

Bichette named to Colorado Sports HOF | Rockies.com

MLBTR Mailbag: Mariners, Rays, Rockies, KBO | MLB Trade Rumors

Steve Adams answered a Rockies related question in his latest mailbag. Like many other Rockies fans, Jarrett wanted to know if the Rockies were likely to sign Mark Trumbo. Steve happens to agree with me that the combination of the Rockies having to lose their first-round pick as well as the price tag on Trumbo makes him unlikely to be wearing a Rockies uniform next year.
