Two members of the Colorado Rockies infield are Gold Glove finalists for 2016. Both Nolan Arenado and DJ LeMahieu were among the final three at their respective positions, Rawlings announced today. Additionally, Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez will be up for his fourth Gold Glove award.
At third, Justin Turner of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Anthony Rendon of the Washington Nationals were named alongside Arenado. Nolan appears to be a lock for his fourth straight Gold Glove, having saved 20 runs defensively this year, compared to just eight and seven for Rendon and Turner, respectively. Should he win, Arenado would become the first third baseman to win the award in each of his first four seasons.
LeMahieu was named alongside Joe Panik of the San Francisco Giants and Jean Segura of the Arizona Diamondbacks, completing an NL West sweep at second base. LeMahieu, who previously won the award in 2014, is looking to add some more defensive hardware to complement the batting title he won this season.
CarGo is a finalist in right field along with Jason Heyward of the Chicago Cubs and the Atlanta Braves’ Nick Markakis. Gonzalez previously took home the hardware in 2010, 2012 and 2013.
The winners of this year’s Gold Gloves will be announced on ESPN on November 8.
