Christian Bergman will start today's Rockies game against the Diamondbacks. It is finally the final Sunday spring training game. The team is off next Sunday before opening the season a week from tomorrow in Arizona.
Because of the standard April days off, the Rockies can work with a four man rotation until April 18. But if Jon Gray takes more time coming back from his abdominal strain, it might mean that Bergman will get some starts in his stead. This is a role he fits well. When the Rockies are working with a healthy five man rotation, Bergman can come out of the bullpen to throw multiple innings. When someone is on the shelf, he can make some spot starts.
