The Rockies have gotten off to a solid 5-4 start this season, propelled largely by their 58 runs scored. Their 6.44 runs per game places them third in baseball behind only the Cardinals and these very Cubs, who sit atop the offensive leader boards. (Oddly, the top four teams in runs scored right now are all in the National League.)
Unfortunately, the Rockies now begin to play games with the dreaded Coors Hangover Effect lurking over their head, and on paper, today's game appears to be the most favorable match up of this series against a red hot Chicago club. Kyle Hendricks did pitch well his first time out against Arizona (6.2 IP, two runs, five strikeouts and a walk), but he should be far easier to get to than Jake Arrieta on Saturday or Jon Lester on Sunday.
If the Rockies don't win today, it's possible they never climb above .500 again this season.
