To make room for Charlie Blackmon on the 25-man roster, the Colorado Rockies have optioned Brandon Barnes to Triple-A Albuquerque according to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post. Blackmon was added to the 15-day disabled list due to turf toe on April 14. In 17 games with the Rockies this year, Barnes is hitting .194/.242/.323 with four RBI.

Bobby DeMuro spoke with Blackmon while he was rehabbing in Modesto, where he went 1-for-8 with an infield single. Blackmon will start tonight in center field for the Rockies against the Arizona Diamondback in his return. In eight games before his injury, Blackmon was hitting .195/.241/.33 with three RBI.

Brandon Barnes becomes the fourth outfielder on the Albuquerque roster, joining Stephen Cardullo, Michael Tauchman and the hot-hitting Jordan Patterson.

The Isotopes will play the second game of a four game set with Reno tonight, while the Rockies kick off a 10-game road trip against the Diamondbacks.
