Welcome to the 50th Purple Row, 154th overall, and unfortunately the final edition of Tuesdays With Mitch, where I'm saying goodbye after a great year. One last time, let's get into it...
I wrote the first "Tuesdays With Mitch" on March 19th, 2013 about Colorado State basketball. In the three years since, each and every Tuesday (except for one guest post while I was on vacation over the holidays) I published some sort of blog about sports. Sometimes it was impassioned and deep. Sometimes it was lighthearted and fun. It usually included a video someone getting hit in the nuts or falling on their face, too.
In those early days, I'm pretty sure I cranked out some posts that were read by a few friends, my parents, and like one other guy on Twitter. It's amazing how difficult it is to build a readership when you start a blog from scratch without any type of following outside of your personal acquaintances.
About a year ago, I had apparently (and annoyingly) tweeted at Purple Row with enough of my Rockies-related articles for them to graciously reach out and add me to their staff. Since then, I've really enjoyed being a part of this unique little Rockie-crazed community. We've talked some baseball. We've laughed at some baseball. We've debated some baseball. We've watched highlights. And lowlights. And people getting hit in the nuts or falling on their face.
It's a bummer to be leaving the blogging game, but I've made some changes in the real-life game that that make this move necessary. (Only so many hours in a week, and such.) I don't plan on falling off the face of the earth. I should be pretty active in the Purple Row comment sections with all of you nutjobs, and hopefully I can jump in every now and then with a new post. Obviously I'll still be on Twitter so feel free to berate me and my curmudgeonly opinions over there.
Of course I want to close by saying THANK YOU! to everybody that read/enjoyed/commented/shared/didn't enjoy but read anyway/etc. my silly weekly posts, whether it was every single week or this is the first one you've ever clicked on. Thank you to blog bossman Bryan Kilpatrick for bringing me around. Thanks to everybody on the PR staff who was super welcoming and awesome the whole time I was here.
I've really enjoyed it, and I miss it already.
Instead of the weekly departments, let's celebrate the real return of baseball last night by watching my favorite of the baseball/Rockie-related clips I've included on this website in the past year. A sort of Greatest Hits album, if you will. Going through all my posts from last year and whittling down all of the media I enjoyed sharing into a reasonably-sized collection proved difficult, but here's what I came up with.
