The Colorado Rockies' Double-A affiliate Hartford Yard Goats begin a bizarre odyssey on Thursday, kicking off a weeks-long minor league road trip throughout the northeast as they await the finishing touches on their new stadium in Connecticut. As weird as a nearly endless road trip may be, though, they aren't the only team to have done this recently.
Just last year, the Biloxi Shuckers of the Double-A Southern League spent almost 60 games on the road as they awaited news that their brand new home ballpark in southern Mississippi had been completed.
The gallery above comes courtesy of Chris Harris, the Shuckers' director of media relations and broadcasting, and it tells but a small sample of what the Brewers' Double-A club went through on that long, long trip last summer. It also may help inform the Yard Goats as they embark on their own trip Thursday, and then across the next several months of the season.
