Thomas Harding wrote a fantastic profile of Trevor Story and his family, giving us a look into the upbringing of the new starting shortstop for the Rockies as we head into the home opener today. We found out a little bit more about Story's upbringing, in a way, on Thursday.

Hartford Yard Goats Open Season With 5-4 Win At Richmond | Hartford Courant
Thursday saw the Hartford Yard Goats play their first game, and snag their first victory. Kyle Freeland was the pitcher who had the honor of throwing the first pitch in franchise history, which went for a strike. Dillon Thomas scored the first run in franchise history on a Rosell Herrera RBI single. Congratulations to all involved with the Yard Goats on finally getting to play baseball.

Where Rockies Top 30 Prospects start season |
For those of you interested in tracking the farm system, Jim Callis provided a list of where the Rockies top 30 prospects will start the season. You might want to pay attention to Hartford, where six of the top 15 will be playing. I'll have an update on them early next week.
