The Asheville Tourists climbed into a winning record on Tuesday night with a 12th inning, 5-4 win over Hagerstown. Brian Mundell, Carlos Hererra, and Hamlet Marte all hit home runs in the victory, with Marte's coming in the 12th inning to seal the victory. 2016 second round pick Ben Bowden pitched an inning in relief for the Tourists, walking two but working out of it to not give up a run.
The Tourists recorded ten hits in the win, six off Nationals top prospect Lucas Giolito, who was getting work in Hagerstown with the top levels all on their All-Star breaks. Brendan Rodgers (No.4 PuRP) had a double, his 20th of the season, as he continued to pepper South Atlantic pitching, raising his OPS to .863. Just a reminder, Rodgers still doesn't turn 20 for another month.
No. 29 PuRP Carlos Herrera was 2-for-5 with a home run and a double, and Brian Mundell kept his average in the 340s with a home run in the victory. Asheville improved to 44-43 with the victory and continue their series in Hagerstown tonight.
