Double-A Hartford lefty Sam Howard earned his very first career win at the level on Saturday night, going six innings and allowing just one run in the Yard Goats' 4-2 win over Binghamton. After cruising through High-A Modesto earlier this year, Howard has struggled a little bit in the Eastern League, but he's not far away from fully correcting the hiccups, and today went a long way to get that monkey off his back.

Elsewhere, Parker French continued his good streak for the Modesto Nuts, allowing just a run in 6.2 innings pitched in a blowout victory for Modesto. Also, Trey Killian was brilliant for Low-A Asheville, whiffing ten hitters in six innings in the Tourists' 2-1 victory. Killian started the season very, very slowly, but he's starting to come around, now, and the University of Arkansas product might be aiming to be a key part of High-A Modesto's rotation come 2017.
