Colorado Rockies prospects: RHP German Marquez takes no-hitter into 8th for Hartford

Hartford Yard Goats pitcher German Marquez took a no-hitter into the eighth inning in the team’s 3-2 win over the Harrisburg Senators.

Marquez, who was recently ranked the No. 7 prospect in the Rockies system my MLB.com, pitched 8 innings and allowed two runs on three hits with three walks while striking out eight in the game. He threw 100 pitches, 62 for strikes.

The Rockies obtained Marquez along with big league reliever Jake McGee in an offseason trade from Tampa Bay that saw Corey Dickerson and minor leaguer Kevin Padlo head to Tampa.

Marquez, a 21-year-old right-hander, has been excellent for the Double-A Yard Goats all season, posting a 2.66 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 128 2/3 innings over 20 starts with 118 strikeouts.

After losing his no-hitter on an infield single with two outs in the eighth, Marquez allowed another single and then a two-run triple to allow the Senators to tie the game at 2-2.
