Jesus Tinoco continues to turn corner after slow start to 2016

The third prospect in the Tulowitzki deal last July turned in a second straight solid performance in Asheville win.

After impressing fans and bloggers alike last summer as the newest addition to the Rockies system, Jesus Tinoco's 2016 started just about as bad as anyone could imagine. Tinoco's foray into Modesto lasted only 13 innings, during which he gave up 22 earned runs and 37 hits. Tinoco's velocity was reported to have dipped and his pitches weren't fooling anyone has he struggled to keep his ERA even below 15 before being sent to extended spring training.

Last night, however, Jesus was more of the player Rockies fans had gotten to know last August: throwing 85 pitches in five innings and only allowing one run on six hits in Asheville's 5-2 win over Greenville. Tinoco picked up his second win of the season, he was aided by a three run home run from Brendan Rodgers. Asheville improved to 41-39 on the season with the victory.
