Everything was the worst on Wednesday for the Rockies and their affiliates as every team in the system lost except the Asheville Tourists—who got rained out. Grand Junction did manage to prevent the organizational sweep by winning the second game of their double header.
There were some encouraging performances, however. David Dahl (no. 2 PuRP) is making people wonder why the Rockies waited so long to promote him. It’s only three games but when you get promoted and immediately go 10-for-15 with three doubles and a home run, people rightfully take notice.
Meanwhile, Kyle Freeland (no. 8 PuRP) had a better day at the plate than he did on the mound for AAABQ. He had two hits, including a double, in three at bats, but allowed 10 hits in seven innings pitched.
(Editors note: Chris Jackson spoke with Freeland after his start)
Sixth round pick out of Miami (FL) Willie Abreu is just five games into his professional career but he has performed well for the Boise Hawks. After going hitless in his debut last Saturday, Abreu is 8-for-17 with two home runs and seven RBI against just two strikeouts. Don’t forget about him as you look to fill out the end of your PuRP’s list this week.
