Eddie Butler continued his transformation on Tuesday, shutting out the Las Vegas 51s in the first game of a doubleheader. He allowed just three hits and two walks in the seven-inning complete game effort. Last month Butler has a string of perplexingly bad starts before pitching coach Darryl Scott helped him tweak his delivery. In his past two outings, he’s thrown 15 innings, while allowing just two runs on seven hits and three walks. He’s only managed four strikeouts in that time but it’s difficult to argue with the results.

Kyle Freeland was good but not quite as impressive in the nightcap. Freeland (no. 9 PuRP) threw six innings and allowed three runs on four hits and three walks. He struck out three before giving way to Matt Carasiti (no. 30 PuRP) who sealed the victory with his second Triple-A save, giving him 31 on the season between Hartford and Albuquerque.

Meanwhile, the DSL Rockies ended their 19-game winning streak, losing to DSL Yankees2 by a score of 6-0. The Rockies managed just two hits in the contest, one off the bat of Hidekel Gonzalez, who leads the team with a .355 average.
