Jeff Hoffman strikes out nine, demands a call up

The righty is completely dominant in Isotopes victory over Colorado Springs

Jeff Hoffman's time in Albuquerque has been filled with peaks and valleys. The key return of last July's Troy Tulowitzki trade saw one of his highest peaks on Sunday night: a five inning, nine strikeout performance that was as efficient as it was dominant. Only throwing 66 pitches (46 for strikes) on the night, Hoffman surrendered just one hit, an infield single in the first inning to Nate Orf. He spent most of the evening completely destroying Sky Sox hitters, striking out the side in the third and only allowing one more base runner through the next 12 batters.

Hoffman's performance is yet another bullet point in the argument for his call-up, the righty hasn't been perfect in Albuquerque but an efficient, bat-missing night like last night makes it hard for anyone to argue that he needs more time to develop. Combine that with rumors of Tyler Chatwood's back acting up again and the Rockies may not have a choice but to make the move for Hoffman this week.

Jeff lowered his season ERA to 4.02 and upped his K/9 to a sterling 9.46. Hoffman appears poised to make an impact on the big league club whether it be this summer or next spring.
