Tom Murphy refuses to cool down. The 25-year-old catcher had yet another big day on Monday for the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes, going 3-for-4 with a double in the team’s 7-1 win. He was somewhat overshadowed in this one thanks to Kyle Freeland’s great outing and Pat Valaika hitting for the cycle, but his recent performance cannot be ignored.

Since July 1, the No. 15 PuRP is hitting a ludicrous .463/.500/.884 across 131 plate appearances. That gives him a season slash line of .322/.352/.648, good for an OPS of an even 1.000 that is second in the Pacific Coast League (min. 250 PA). We should see him back in a Rockies uniform in a little over a week when the rosters expand. How often he plays when that happens, however, remains to be seen.
