Brendan Rodgers homers for the Asheville Tourists on a quiet day

Monday was a quiet day within the Colorado Rockies’ farm system, as each of their top three affiliates either had a scheduled day off or were rained out. As a result, just one of the team’s top 20 prospects was in action.

That one was No. 3 PuRP Brendan Rodgers, who combined to go 1-for-6 with a home run, walk, and three strikeouts in a doubleheader for the Low-A Asheville Tourists. After a blistering hot April that saw him hit .329/.411/.582, the right-handed shortstop who turns 20 today has cooled off considerably and is now hitting just .275/.341/.466 on the season. Nevertheless, it has still been a strong season for the third overall pick in the 2015 draft against competition two and a half years older than him on average. Talk of him getting a midseason promotion has all but disappeared, but he’s still a near lock to move up to High-A and the hitter friendly California League in 2017.

Here are the scores and highlights from the rest of Monday’s action:

The Isotopes were rained out on Monday night. They’ll make up the game with a Tuesday doubleheader.
