Chad Bettis, Charlie Blackmon help lead Rockies to extra innings win

San Francisco Giants v Colorado Rockies

The Rockies scraped an extra innings victory in San Diego today, winning 3-2 in ten.

Chad Bettis followed up one of the best starts in Rockies history with a solid seven inning, two run performance on Sunday afternoon. The right hander only allowed four hits and one walk on the day, striking out five. Bettis allowed both runs in the sixth inning after cruising through the first five frames, only allowing one hit before a rally in the sixth took away the lead, he left with a no decision..

Charlie Blackmon was the entirety of the Rockies offense, hitting a solo home run in the fourth and singling home the second run the next inning. The homer was Blackmon’s 25th of his fine season.

The Padres were scoreless into the sixth inning, but a Wil Myers triple drove in Travis Jankowski got them on the board before a Yangervis Solarte sac fly tied the game up the very next batter.

The teams remained tied into extra innings with strong outings from each teams bullpen through the standard nine. Mark Reynolds opened the tenth inning with a solo home run to put a cap on the scoring and Adam Ottavino earned his fourth save of the year.

The Rockies improve to 69-74 with the win and now head to Arizona for their last trip to Phoenix of 2016. Tyler Anderson is set to start against the maligned Shelby Miller.
