Top five Rockies prospects: Brendan Rodgers a star in the making | USA Today

USA Today publicly released their top five Rockies prospects from their Minor League Baseball Analyst publication. Brendan Rodgers, Jeff Hoffman, Raimel Tapia and Riley Pint filled in the top four. In a bit of a surprise, Ryan McMahon was the Rockies fifth best prospect according to them. While McMahon has lost some of his luster after a disappointing 2016 campaign, it’s nice to see that some scouts are still high on him and expecting a good bounce back in 2017.

Wolters' catching prowess is well-received |

Thomas Harding has an amazing interview with Tony Wolters about his ability to steal strikes with his excellent pitch framing. Wolters goes into incredible depth about all of the factors that helps him receive pitches as well as almost anyone else in the league.

Wolters’ defensive prowess combined with Tom Murphy’s offensive potential has Rockies fans a lot more comfortable with the catching situation than the outside media who is intent on trying to pair Matt Wieters with the Rockies to provide some veteran catching presence. Personally, the Rockies would be better served putting those dollars, if available, towards their bullpen and continuing to strengthen their options for first base.
