Rockies face Angels in spring training matchup

Follow the Rockies spring training game against the Angels.

The Colorado Rockies will travel to Tempe today to play the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at Diablo Stadium. The game starts at 2:10 MT. The player to watch today is starting pitcher Antonio Senzatela. Senzatela has only pitched 3423 innings beyond High-A, but they were pretty dang good innings. Not only that, but he’s been having a pretty great spring. He’s only pitched 1113 innings, but he’s struck out 10 batters without walking anybody. Senzatela is fully in the mix for a rotation spot, even if he’s something of a long shot to get one.

Senzatela will face a strong Angels lineup that includes most of their regulars, including Mike Trout. It will be fun to see a young Rockies prospect face the closest thing to Mickey Mantle any of us is ever likely to see in something that at least approximates meaningful baseball.

The Rockies lineup will face someone familiar, former member of the San Francisco Giants Yusmeiro Petit.

Locals can listen to the game on 850 KOA or listen at MLB.com’s Media Center. Fox Sports West will televise the game for west coasters, and out of market MLB.tv subscribers can watch the stream.
