Colorado Rockies prospect Riley Pint makes Asheville debut with 100 MPH fastballs, four strikeouts

Last year’s first round draft pick made his Single-A debut with four shutout innings

Riley Pint’s Asheville debut was just as advertised on Sunday afternoon as the 19-year-old right hander hit 100 MPH consistently on the radar gun and struck out four Hagerstown Suns in the Tourists 11-3 win.

Pint, the Rockies top draft pick one year ago, was a heralded power arm out of Kansas. His scoreless debut in full season pro ball will keep that praise coming. Pint kept the Suns off balance for most of the game, blowing by triple digit fastballs and dropping in slick breaking balls. Pint’s debut was aided by a Tourists offense that has opened the season absolutely on fire, the offensive explosion on Sunday included Tyler Nevin’s first home run of the season and two homers from Vince Fernandez.

The Tourists split the four game set with Hagerstown with the win and ended their first weekend 2-2.
