Matt Carasiti picks up fifth save, keeps ERA at zero in Isotopes victory

Reliever Matt Carasiti was rushed through the minor leagues last year, there’s no doubt in that. The reliever spent 39 innings in Hartford before spending seven innings in AAA and then finally finishing the season in Denver.

At the major league level, Carasiti showed he wasn’t quite ready for the level. The 6’3 righty was pounded for a 9+ ERA in his short stint in the bigs. Carasiti’s struggles forced the Rockies to hold him in AAA to start 2017 but after Carasiti’s April, he may be knocking on the door for his second opportunity in the bigs.

Last night, Carasiti pitched his sixth inning of relief for 2017, he finished his sixth shutout inning as well. Carasiti has yet to give up a run through his six appearances and has converted all five of his save opportunities this year.

Albuquerque picked up a much needed victory on Sunday with a 3-2 win over Tacoma.
