Rockies prospects have big game in Jethawks loss

Weather and runs were the theme yesterday across the Rockies system, from Single-A to the major league club. Rain was an enemy to baseball across the country last night, as the Isotopes were rained out in Albuquerque and the Yard Goats were rained out in Maine. Meanwhile, big run totals and comebacks that fell just short was the story in Lancaster.

The Jethawks were visiting the Stockton Ports and jumped out to an early two-run lead thanks to first inning RBI from Sam Hilliard and Yonathan Daza scoring Garrett Hampson (no. 22 PuRP) and Brendan Rodgers (no. 1 PuRP), respectively. Unfortunately the Ports had the upper hand in this one, scoring 11 runs by the fifth inning.

Hampson (3-for-5, 2 R) and Rodgers (2-for-5, 2 R) had big nights at the plate, but Brian Mundell (HM PuRP) was the star. He reached base three times, including a seventh inning home run that drove in Hampson and Rodgers and cut the deficit to three. That was as close as they would get, however. The JetHawks are now 7-12 and find themselves with the worst record in the California League.
