Rockies Opening Day 2017: Colorado’s starting lineup vs. Brewers

Charlie Blackmon will be the first Rockies batter of 2017

The Colorado Rockies starting lineup for Opening Day 2017 has been announced.

Charlie Blackmon - CF
DJ LeMahieu - 2B
Carlos González - RF
Nolan Arenado - 3B
Trevor Story - SS
Gerardo Parra - LF
Mark Reynolds - 1B
Tony Wolters - C
Jon Gray - SP

Charlie Blackmon will be batting leadoff again coming off a career year when he hit .324/.381/.552. DJ LeMahieu follows him hoping to defend his batting title. Those two will be setting the table for the Rockies three sluggers: Carlos González, Nolan Arenado and Trevor Story. González, Arenado and Story combined for 93 home runs last year for the Rockies and look to improve on that number this year.

Gerardo Parra and Mark Reynolds will bat sixth and seventh respectively as they fill in for the injured David Dahl and Ian Desmond who are starting the season on the 10-day disabled list. Catching wunderkind Tony Wolters will be looking to build off an impressive second half last year as he takes the title of Rockies starting catcher.
