Colorado Rockies Prospects: Wild ninth inning ends with Lancaster walk off

Rockies prospect and farm report for games from April 30, 2017

The California league is known for its offense and Lancaster’s ballpark The Hanger may be the most notorious of the bunch.

Last night, The Hanger came out in full effect in a wild ninth inning that featured ten runs and a walk off homer. After Rancho Cucamonga struck for seven runs in the top half, Hamlet Marte hit a walk off two run shot in the bottom of the ninth to give the JetHawks an 11-10 victory.

The JetHawks had eight of the nine players in the lineup get involved in fourteen hits, including Marte’s home run. Forrest Wall, getting more time in center field, went 2-for-3 with two walks and an RBI.

The Hawks were stifled by a tremendous performance early by the Quakes Dennis Santana, but the bats found life in the late innings, scoring all 11 runs in the final three frames.

Lancaster improved to 11-14 with the win, their first walk off the season.
