Colorado Rockies prospect Yency Almonte returns for the Hartford Yard Goats

The Colorado Rockies farm system got a small boost last night when Yency Almonte returned from his shoulder injury. Almonte was off to a phenomenal start to the season before being derailed in the middle of his start on May 3. Originally, the injury was not thought serious enough to have him miss his next start, but the Rockies apparently decided to be cautious with the situation.

Last night, Almonte started for the Double-A Hartford Yard Goats and pitched four innings. The shortened outing was no a surprise as he will probably have to work his pitch count back up again after missing over 20 days. Almonte struck out five and walked two in his abbreviated appearance.

Other notes:

Brendan Rodgers continue to be on fire. After hitting two home runs on Friday night, he followed it up with two doubles and another home run last night.

Jeff Hoffman had a rough start to his outing that was not helped by some defensive miscues. However, he eventually settled in and put in a solid outing
