Colorado Rockies prospect James Farris continues to dominate Double-A hitters

Prospect news and game results from the Rockies minor league affiliates from Sunday, May 28, 2017.

James Farris earned his eighth save last night for the Hartford Yard Goats. For the season, Farris now has a 1.02 ERA and an opponents batting average against of .188. As impressive as those numbers are, high strikeout and walk numbers are even more astounding. In 17 23 innings, Farris has struck out 26 while surrendering only two walks, one of which was intentional.

Acquired for Eddie Butler, along with some international signing bonus money, Farris has had little issue with Double-A competition. While he appears to be in line for a promotion to Triple-A, that bullpen is already full of reliever prospects that the Rockies want to give priority innings to.
