Colorado Rockies prospects produced big at the plate across four levels, scoring a total of 26 runs, but two one-run losses meant they went 2-2 on Tuesday.
In a rotation that includes our no. 2 PuRP, Ryan Carpenter now has the longest start on the season after going 72⁄3 shutout innings en route to the first shutout victory for the Isotopes this season. He allowed five hits, no walks, and struck out six. Carpenter has been in the Rockies organization since 2014 when he joined the Modesto Nuts. Last year for Albuquerque he was 2-3 with a 7.47 ERA in 26 games, eight of which were starts. His performance on Tuesday lowered his 2017 ERA to 3.47 in 231⁄3 innings.
For the second time in just over two weeks the Yard Goats lost a home game in which they put up double-digit run totals, falling 11-12 to Portland. It was a good sign for their struggling offense, especially since it wasn’t the usual suspects so far this season. Josh Fuentes played a major role in Hartford’s breakout offensive performance, going 4-for-5 with a double, a triple, a run scored, and four RBI. This performance raised his season line from .224/.307/.328 to .264/.338/.403.
Today, Jeff Hoffman looks to build on his stellar performance last week in El Paso, and the Yard Goats play at 8:35 am MT so this is your opportunity to wake up with baseball!
