Of all the surprises for the Rockies this season, one of the biggest has been the performance of lefty reliever Jake McGee. After struggling with a knee injury last season, McGee is back to his best in 2017 with a 1.74 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 20 2/3 innings. Thomas Harding has more on McGee's success.

With the depth the Rockies have shown in 2017, one challenge for manager Bud Black has been juggling playing time, especially with the trio of Ian Desmond, Mark Reynolds and Gerardo Parra, for whom there are just two spots in the lineup on most days. Shortstop Brendan Rodgers, Purple Row's No. 1 PuRP, headlines's Prospect Team of the Week. Rodgers hit .500 this week for High-A Lancaster with seven extra-base hits, including four home runs. Rodgers wasn't the only JetHawk to make the team of the week as first baseman Brian Mundell was also featured after hitting .400 with three home runs of his own.
