Rockies prospect Parker French has had a bit of an up-and-down season in 2017. The 24-year-old right-hander has been at times dominant and at other times completely hittable. On Tuesday night he turned in his most impressive start of the season, displaying a lot of what pushed him into the 26th spot of the latest PuRPs list.
French went eight strong innings, scattering six hits and two walks while striking out four Flying Squirrels. He didn’t allow a baserunner to get past second base until the top of the eighth, when Slade Heathcott tried to score from second on a single but was thrown out at home on a relay from Dillon Thomas to Josh Fuentes. Fuentes had an RBI double in the third and Thomas added a three-run home run in the eighth to contribute to the blowout.
French currently owns a 4.31 ERA and a 32:18 K/BB ratio in 562⁄3 innings. The Yard Goats are 24-26, nine games back of the division leading Trenton Thunder.
