In a crazy 13-10 affair that Lancaster has been famous for, Rockies top prospect Brendan Rodgers finished his night 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI. The three hit night propelled the shortstop’s batting average over .400 on the season, putting his incredible California League season into another echelon of success. Rodgers improved his OPS to 1.129, his wRC+ to 206, and has more extra base hits (32) than strikeouts (27).
Rodgers extended his hit streak to 19 games, his longest of the season. After 42 games for Rodgers, he’s gotten a hit in 37 of them. It’s now more shocking when he doesn’t get a hit. He’s been featured on the Pebble so many times, it might as well be called the “Rodgers Report”.
The Rockies top prospect has probably proven that he’s unchallenged by the California League and a second half in Hartford may be his next step.
