Rockies place league-high nine prospects in California League All-Star Game

Prospect news and game results from the Rockies minor league affiliates from Tuesday, July 13, 2017.

The California League released their All-Star Game rosters and Rockies prospects led the way with nine selections. The Lancaster JetHawks will be represented by catcher Hamlet Marte, first baseman Brian Mundell, second baseman Garrett Hampson (no. 22 PuRP), shortstop Brendan Rodgers (no. 1 PuRP), third baseman Mylz Jones, outfielder Sam Hilliard, outfielder Wes Rogers, and pitchers Peter Lambert (no. 11 PuRP) and Craig Schlitter. Yes, you read that correctly: the JetHawks could very well make up the entire starting infield. Heck, the South Division could conceivably have all-but-one JetHawk playing at one time.

Just about all of these All-Stars had big nights on Tuesday. Hampson, Rodgers, Mundell, and Jones all had multi-hit nights and Schlitter went six innings while allowing just two runs in a 10-3 rout of Lake Elsinore. Rodgers now has a 21-game hitting streak and is hitting .405/.424/.697 on the season.
