Ten rounds are in the books and thirty more rounds remain for the Rockies in the 2017 MLB Draft. Coverage resumes on MLB.com at 10 a.m. MT on Wednesday and will run until all 1,215 picks (900 today in rounds 11-40) are in the books. The Rockies made eight picks yesterday in Day 2 of the draft and all of them were college players. There were four pitchers, including yet another University of Texas pitcher, Nick Kennedy (fifth round), who will join former Longhorns Ty Culbreth and Parker French on the farm. The Rockies also selected a hometown boy, University of Minnesota and Legacy High School graduate Lucas Gilbreath in the seventh round. It wasn’t all pitchers on Day 2 for the Rockies. First basemen Chad Spanberger (sixth round, University of Arkansas) and Sean Bouchard (ninth round, UCLA) will join second round pick Ryan Vilade as power-hitting prospects in the system.
