20-year-old Peter Lambert may be pitching himself into some well deserved hype this season.
The young right hander had himself a night on Monday, striking out 10 San Jose Giants in seven innings of work. Lambert kept the Giants off the scoreboard all night, scattering six hits in a 4-0 win for the JetHawks. Lambert improved to 4-5 on the season, dropping his ERA to a 3.61 and upping his strikeouts to 76 in 72 1⁄3 IP.
Lambert made a bit of a name for himself after a strong season for Asheville in 2016, but consistent performances against tougher hitters in a tougher environment will propel his name to the top of many prospect lists. He picked up his sixth straight quality start on Monday, three of those coming in Lancaster’s hitter friendly ballpark.
The JetHawks offense got a spark from Brendan Rodgers’s 9th home run of the season in the eighth inning, part of a 3-run inning that gave Lancaster all the runs they needed to hang on to a late inning victory.
The Hawks improved to 31-27 with the win. Other news and notes from the affiliates are below:
