Dear Cubs Fans...

David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

Here are the NL Third Base voting results released by the MLB yesterday (June 5th):

1. Kris Bryant, Cubs: 895,752
2. Nolan Arenado, Rockies: 613,571
3. Justin Turner, Dodgers, 362,952
4. Anthony Rendon, Nationals: 295,369
5. Jedd Gyorko, Cardinals: 275,281

I get it, I really do Cubs fans. You're riding the high from last year's World Series win. That combined with breaking the curse and embracing the "lovable losers" moniker has you all on cloud nine and with a lot of due respect.

Here's my only gripe, as great of a player Kris Bryant is, he doesn't deserve to be the starting 3B for the National League. I know I know, it doesn't matter who deserves it, it's a fan vote and now that the league that wins the All-Star Game doesn't determine home-field advantage in the World Series it's probably not as significant, but still just hear me out.

Of course, I'm sure you think Mr. Bryant is the best possible option for the NL (he's your guy after all plus he's got that face made for the cameras) but let's be reasonable here...he isn't. I don't know though, maybe reason isn't your thing so let's have a look at the stats.

Defensively, Nolan Arenado leads the above mentioned NL 3B candidates in the DWAR (Defensive Wins Above Replacement), FPCT (Fielding Percentage), TC (Total Chances), DP (Double Plays) & PO (Putouts).

Offensively, Arenado leads the above mentioned NL 3B candidates in SLG (Slugging Percentage), WAR (Wins Above Replacement), HR (Home Runs), RBI (Runs Batted In), H (Hits), Doubles, & R (Runs).

Oh, and did I mention Nolan Arenado and the Colorado Rockies are leading the best division in the NL and arguably the entire MLB?

Bryant leads the above mentioned NL 3B candidates in SB (Stolen Bases), BB (Walks), SO (Strikeouts), and CS (Caught Stealing) (those last two aren't areas you want to lead in).

If anyone has a case against Nolan it's probably Jedd Gyroko or Anthony Rendon in my opinion.

Just something to chew on.
