Do Rockies Antonio Senzatela and Kyle Freeland have a shot at rookie of the year? | Denver Post
Patrick Saunders held a lunch time Q&A yesterday. He answered questions about whether or not this is the best rotation the team has ever had (maybe!), as well as David Dahl's timetable for return (who knows!).
He also answers a question about whether or not Kyle Freeland or Antonio Senzatela have a shot at winning the Rookie of the Year award. Saunders responds that Cody Bellinger is probably the favorite at the moment, which is reasonably because he’s an every day player and is having a great year. But he doesn’t discount either Senzatela or Freeland sneaking in.
If any Rockies pitcher wins the award, it would be the second time a Rockies player won the award. The last time was a pitcher, too, when Jason Jennings won the award in 2002. Right now, when this question comes up, the conversation naturally goes to Senzatela and Freeland. But the distinction of “best rookie pitcher on the team” just might belong to Jeff Hoffman. If he stays in the majors and pitches as well as he has in his last two outings, he could very well end up with more RoY votes than either Senzatela or Freeland.
Colorado Rockies: Jordan Patterson Scouting Report, June 2017 | Baseball Census
Bobby DeMuro has a thorough scouting report of Jordan Patterson, whom the Rockies optioned back down to Triple-A Albuquerque yesterday. I still worry that Patterson might end up being the right-handed version of Kyle Parker, but his lack of playing time, much more than Parker, has to do with a series of roadblocks at the major-league level. This report suggests as much.
Rockies Nolan Arenado bounces back quickly | MLB.com
On Tuesday, Nolan Arenado went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts. On Wednesday, he went 3-for-5 with a double and a triple. It was a brief slump. He and Charlie Blackmon also joined together for a spectacular play on defense. Manny Randhawa has more from Arenado and Blackmon.
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred focused on younger fans, faster play | Mile High Sports
Regarding that visit, Allis Noe writes about Manfred's thoughts about quickening the pace of play and reaching younger fans. He's careful to distinguish between "pace" and "time," the latter of which is slowed because of dead time in between pitches. As Grant Brisbee wrote prior to the season, games are slowing simply because players are taking longer and longer in between game actions.

How the Teams Have Drafted in This Millennium | FanGraphs Baseball
Draft day is on Monday, so let's look back at how the Rockies have drafted since the year 2000. The "how" is really about how many draftees signed, and how much rWAR the selections have posted. The Rockies are in the middle, 17th, in how many players the team has drafted and signed. The Giants have signed the most. The Rockies rank 21st in rWAR of players they've signed and drafted since 2000, though the team is young, and that could change in just a few years.
