The Rockies caught another bad break in the fourth inning of today’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Ian Desmond appeared to make a routine catch on a line drive to left field before pulling up hurt. After the training staff went out to check on the limping outfielder, Desmond had to leave the game and Mike Tauchman replaced him.
In the sixth inning, ROOT said that the word from the clubhouse was that Desmond had suffered a “right calf cramp.” Today was the first game back for DJ LeMahieu who suffered a cramp in his groin on Tuesday and had to miss three games. While cramps seem like a minor injury there is a chance that Desmond could miss a similar amount of time.
If Desmond does need a trip to the 10-day DL to recover he could be replaced on the roster by Carlos Gonzalez who is eligible to come off the DL tomorrow after spending 10 days on it with a shoulder injury.
