Colorado Rockies Game No. 103 Thread: Jeff Hoffman vs. Carlos Martinez

The Rockies are looking to salvage a game in St. Louis

After a walk-off loss yesterday, the Colorado Rockies will look to get back on track in tonight’s series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Jeff Hoffman gets the start for the Rockies on the mound tonight. Hoffman has struggled in July so far, with a 7.04 ERA and 1.61 WHIP, striking out just 11 in 23 innings. However, Hoffman has been much better away from Coors Field this season, with a 2.45 ERA and 0.85 WHIP in five starts on the road.

Cardinals starter Carlos Martinez has also struggled this month, with a 5.48 ERA and 1.65 WHIP. He allowed three runs on six hits in 7 13 innings against the Rockies in May, walking a pair and striking out nine.

Ian Desmond is on the bench for the Rockies after leaving last night’s game with a calf issue, so Carlos Gonzalez and Gerardo Parra get starts in the outfield. Also, Tyler Chatwood is available in the bullpen.
