MLB trade rumors: Rockies still have needs after Pat Neshek trade

Rockies news and links for July 28, 2017

Rockies bolstered by acquisition of Pat Neshek, but still face tough road to postseason | The Denver Post
Patrick Saunders writes that the acquisition of Neshek makes the team better, but there's still a lot of season left, and the team still carries question marks. A lot of the excitement about grabbing Neshek has overshadowed the fact that the Cardinals just swept the Rockies, and that the team can't seem to win on the road.

It wasn't long ago when the Rockies had a better road than home record. Now, they're 27-26 on the road. With a three-game series against the Nationals starting tonight, there's a good chance the Rockies return to Denver for their next home stand with a road record below .500. The Rockies are better today than they were on Wednesday morning, but there's still work to do.

Rockies' chances of trading before Deadline | MLB.com
Thomas Harding unsurprisingly got a lot of trade questions in his mailbag. Someone asks about a package that includes a reliever as well as a catcher. He floats the idea of a Jonathan Lucroy/Jeremy Jeffress package from the Rangers, as well as an Alex Avila/Justin Wilson grouping from the Tigers.

Someone else asked about the Rockies calling up some of their Triple-A mashers, David Dahl, Ryan McMahon, and Raimel Tapia. Harding feels like they won't be up until September—that is, "if one or two of them don't go in Deadline [sic] deals"
