Rockies vs. Nationals postponed on Friday, will play double-header July 30

The rain didn’t go away

Tonight’s game between the Colorado Rockies and the Washington Nationals has been postponed due to rain. The Washington D.C. area is under flash flood warnings into the evening so this isn’t much of a surprise.

This is the Rockies only road series against the Nationals this season so they have scheduled a split double-header for Sunday to make up tonight’s game. By scheduling the double header for Sunday rather than tomorrow, this will allow both team’s to carry their 26 man on the roster for both games since the second game of the double-header was scheduled more than 48 hours in advance.

There are some weather concerns in the D.C. area tomorrow as well which may be part of the reason they decided to wait till Sunday to play the double-header. Hopefully, the weather won’t prevent the game tomorrow night from being played. Otherwise, it could get quite tricky trying to find a date to make up that game as well.
