Since being drafted, Ryan Castellani has always been the young kid.
Throughout his minor league career, Castellani has never been less than three years younger than his average competition. Despite this, the righty has been one of the more exciting pitching prospects in the Rockies system. Boasting strong control, Casti has kept his prospect shine even with some bumps in allowing a higher earned run rate than most. His age combined with his fun slider/fastball combo makes him an intriguing future prospect.
Last night, Castellani turned in a solid performance in a Hartford 5-2 victory over Portland on Sunday night. Ryan went 62⁄3 innings with four strikeouts, only allowing two runs in the seventh inning.
Castellani was helped by three Brian Mundell hits and a Drew Weeks home run to lock in his sixth win of the season. Other news and notes from the affiliates are below:
