The Rockies made a couple of roster moves prior to today’s double header. First, the team placed left-handed reliever Jake McGee on the 10-day disabled list. In his place, the Rockies called up left-handed reliever Zac Rosscup. Additionally, the team has called up Carlos Estévez to serve as the 26th man on the roster for today’s games. He was just optioned yesterday, so let’s hope he didn’t leave Washington.
Lefty Kyle Freeland starts game one today against the tough Nationals lineup. The Rockies face Erick Fedde, who is making his major-league debut. They’re sending out a lefty heavy lineup today. Raimel Tapia is starting in left field and hitting fifth, and Gerardo Parra is starting at first base and hitting fourth. Carlos González is in right field and is hitting sixth. The only right-hander who is starting where a lefty is available is at catcher, but Wolters started last night’s game and he’ll need to start game two today, so Ryan Hanigan will catch Freeland.
