Rockies prospect Pedro González has had a great weekend

Rockies prospect report and minor league game results from August 11-12, 2017

Pedro González has stood on on a few occasions in this year’s Pebble Reports. Because this edition covers games on Friday and Saturday, he stands out even more. In those two games, González went 6-for-8 with two doubles, a triple, and a walk. He’s now hitting .316/.384/.514 for Rookie Grand Junction while mostly handling center field. It’s probably too late in the minor-league season to anticipate a promotion, but González is sure to see full-season ball next year at age 20.

Also in Grand Junction, the Rockies second selection in the 2017 draft Tommy Doyle pitched a clean inning of relief, wherein he struck out all three batters he faced. The 21-year-old could see a fast rise through the system next year.

On Sunday, PuRPs wil start in four of the six scheduled games.
