Ryan McMahon gets his first major-league start for the Rockies today. He’ll bat seventh and play first base. Mark Reynolds is getting the day off, as is Trevor Story. Pat Valaika will start at shortstop and hit sixth.
Germán Márquez will get the start for the Rockies. Márquez has quietly been the Rockies best starting pitcher this season. He has a 3.88 ERA and a 3.72 FIP in 109 innings. The righty has also struck out 8.5 batters per nine innings and walked 2.97 per nine. His season hasn’t been a product of luck, either. His BABIP against is a pretty normal .300, his LOB% is a pretty normal 74.9 percent, and his HR/FB has been a, you guessed it, pretty normal 9.7 percent.
Vance Worley will start for the Marlins. The veteran right-hander has worked out of the bullpen and the rotation this year, and today will be his eighth start. He has a 4.82 ERA, but a 3.62 FIP.
The early game gets going at 11:10 MT.
