Rockies prospect Ryan Castellani dominates Portland

The Rockies #6 PuRP had himself a day for the Yard Goats

Ryan Castellani’s season in Hartford hasn’t always gone to plan. The 21-year-old right handed starter is once again much younger than his competition but this time his success has been inconsistent. Last night, he showed why he’s so well regarded in the Rockies system, dealing eight shutout innings with eight strikeouts and only five hits allowed.

Castellani kept the Sea Dogs hitters off balance all night, turning in his best performance since June 2nd and lowering his ERA to an even 5.00 and his FIP to a better looking 4.03.

Castellani continues to represent the next generation of Rockies pitching prospects with Yency Almonte and Peter Lambert behind him as the next graduating class ready to provide value to the Major League level.

The Goats backed Ryan up with a strong offensive performance, scoring six runs in a blowout win over Portland.
