The Rockies will try to sweep the three-game series against the Phillies this afternoon, as Jeff Hoffman starts against Aaron Nola. It’s a matchup that pits two talented 24-year-old starters against one another. Hoffman comes into the game with a 5.38 ERA and a 93 ERA+, while Nola brings a 3.16 ERA and a 134 ERA+.
DJ LeMahieu was initially pencilled in at second base and hitting second, but he has been scratched from today’s game, with triceps contusion. Alexi Amarista will start at second base in his place and hit seventh. Carlos González is hitting sixth and playing right field. Jonathan Lucroy will get the day off, and Ryan Hanigan will catch Hoffman and bat eighth.
The Rockies made a roster move prior to today’s game. They optioned relief pitcher Shane Carle and re-instated Jake McGee from the 10-day disabled list, according to Patrick Saunders. Additionally, Tyler Chatwood is listed in the bullpen on today’s lineup card, and Antonio Senzatela is penciled in as a starting pitcher. Aniello Piro of Mile High Sports tweeted that Senzatela will start for the Rockies on Wednesday at Cleveland.
The series finale begins at 1:10 MT.
