Rockies starter Chad Bettis turns in impressive rehab start for Albuquerque

New, 1 comment

Prospect news and game results from the Rockies minor league affiliates from Tuesday, August 8, 2017.

The Rockies currently have a number of options with which to fill their starting rotation. As Chad Bettis continues his recovery from cancer treatment, it seems Bud Black is pretty close to having one more option to consider.

Bettis was great on Tuesday, as he made what should be his final rehab start before returning to the Rockies. He worked five innings of one-run ball while allowing just three hits total and zero walks. Bettis struck out two batters, and he tossed 70 pitches in his five innings. Patrick Saunders reports that he’s expected to make his return to the Rockies on Monday, when the club returns from the road and kicks off a series against the Atlanta Braves.

Two offensive performances stood out on Tuesday night. In Double-A, Brian Mundell continued to hit. He went 3-for-5 with a double. Mundell is handling the mid-season promotion well, and if everything continues he could see the majors next season. Further down on the farm, infielder Garrett Hampson went 4-for-5 with a triple and a home run.
